Microsoft has confirmed Windows 8 release date to be on October 26th, 2012. It was announced by Steven Sinofsky, the president of the Windows and Windows Live Division at Microsoft, during the giant company’s annual sales meeting.

A Windows 8 Upgrade Assistant will walk you through the upgrade process step-by-step from purchase to download and installation.

Add USD$15 and you get a backup Windows 8 DVD shipped to you.

A Windows 8 Pro packaged DVD version will be available for USD$69.99 during upgrade promotion period till January 31st, 2013.

New Windows 7 users

If you purchased a Windows 7 PC between June 2, 2012 and January 31, 2013, you can get Windows 8 Pro upgrade offer for only USD$14.99. The last day to register and order your Windows 8 upgrade is February 28, 2013.

For your information, Microsoft was giving away FREE Windows 7 upgrade to new Windows Vista users in 2009. Now they are asking for USD$15.
